So you’re engaged, and now the planning begins. If you are now in this situation, you know, that planning a wedding takes a TON of work! We’ve gone over the importance of budgeting, and setting a well-planned timeline, for planning and the day of the wedding. It can all feel a little overwhelming, so today, I want to discuss some mistakes that many brides make while planning their big day!

Putting others first

While you are planning, make sure you take some time to write down what is really important to YOU and your partner. It is so easy to get sidetracked about what others think your day should look like, and there would be nothing worse than finishing your wedding day and looking back thinking “wow, I wish I had done ____”. Make sure what you plan, is what is important to you.

Make sure to consider your guests

Especially if you have guests traveling, it’s important to remember the expense that guests put out to attend your wedding. Make sure you make them comfortable. Depending on where your wedding is located, offering free transportation can be a huge gift to your guests. We’ve also discussed wedding bags in a past post, so make sure to check it out!

Ruling out a wedding planner

You may think that you’re super organized and creative, and a good manager. But, when you get closer to your big day, you’re going to feel like you’re needed in 10 places at once. So, if a wedding planner is something you can fit into your budget, it is incredibly helpful to hire a professional!

Dieting

Let’s just say, if I had a nickel for every bride who buys their wedding dress a size smaller as a weight-loss incentive, I would be rich. Yes, getting healthy is wonderful! It can help you feel better in your body and show improvements in your skin etc., but you need to remember, that crash dieting is hardly effective. Make sure you feel comfortable in your dress and comfortable just as you are!

Too long of an intermission

It’s usually best to minimize the time in between your ceremony and your reception. It can leave guests with nothing to do. If you require a longer intermission, then make sure there’s some entertainment for your guests. Fun yard games have been super popular, so make sure to check out Pinterest for some fun ideas!
