So let’s discuss those styles a little.
Ball gown
The ball gown is known for its fitted bodice and a dramatic full skirt. So who is a ball gown best for? They suggest staying away from this style if you have the following body types: hourglass.
Sheath Dress
Is a slim cut that follows the body’s natural shape. As the sheath dress definition states, this style follows your body’s natural shape. So it’s suggested for thin (petite) body types.

Mermaid
This dress style is known as being slim through the bodice and hips, and then flaring out. This style is best for hourglass shapes, inverted triangle shapes, petite body shapes. Mermaid dress styles should be avoided if you have a pear (triangle) body shape.
A-Line
Trim on top with a skirt that widens gradually. Best for hourglass, rectangle, apple (full figure), and petite. According to the bridal boutique on the net, a-line dresses tend to work for most body types and doesn’t specify a body shape that should stay away. So give this style a go!
